Stills from the film…
Raised in a creative environment, she started her artist journey by drawing in charcoal as a little girl in Subiaco, an inner-western suburb of Perth. She then started to paint, inspired by her travels and overseas stays, by the people she met and foreign atmospheres she discovered.
Over the years, her palette has narrowed to a very recognisable warm, sunny, and earthy one, with a special place for yellow. Her shapes are often vacillating in an endearing way. She is a fervent believer that “there is an honesty in the imperfect”.
Vynka’s s last solo show at the wonderful Michael Reid Gallery has sold out in 5 days. You can keep an eye on her next adventures via her Instagram and website liked below and discover more about her beautiful name and her favourite artist of the moment in the interview hereafter.
